In his opening message, Chancellor Vistan commended the faculty and staff of the three colleges for “embracing the AUN-QA process as an opportunity to reflect, improve, and grow.” He proudly presented the four programs as “a testament to the university’s steadfast commitment to providing a transformative and globally relevant education grounded in honor and excellence.”

Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen, Deputy Chairperson of the AUN-QA Council, expressed gratitude to the university for hosting the assessment and emphasized AUN-QA’s continuing initiatives on Internal and Institutional Quality Assurance, as well as enhancements to the framework to serve more higher education institutions.

UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen delivered their messages during the opening session.

Due to the inclement weather, the opening session and first-day activities were shifted to a remote setup via Zoom. This allowed the assessor team to engage virtually with the Deans, key faculty members, academic and support staff, and students. The units also showcased the digital tools they use to facilitate instruction, monitor student progress, and conduct assessment.

Activities resumed on campus the following day, beginning with interviews with alumni and employers of each degree program. After the stakeholder interviews, the UPD QAO led the AUN-QA assessment team on visits to university-level facilities such as the University Health Service and the Computer Center, followed by rolling tours of the University Registrar, student dormitories, sports facilities, and other key areas of the Diliman campus to provide a broader perspective of the academic environment. Each program likewise organized guided tours of their own laboratories, classrooms, and resource centers, highlighting how these spaces support student development.

The AUN-QA assessors visited the University Health Service and Computer Center as part of the university-level facilities tour organized by the UPD QAO.

The AUN-QA assessors inspected the facilities of the programs they were assigned to.

The review visit concluded with a presentation of preliminary findings and the closing session attended by Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Alyssa M. Peleo-Alampay, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Maria Vanessa P. Lusung-Oyzon, Vice Chancellor for Administration Assoc. Prof. Adeline A. Pacia, Deans of the College of Education, School of Library and Information Studies, and College of Engineering, along with faculty and staff.

Speaking on behalf of Chancellor Vistan, Vice Chancellor Lusung-Oyzon urged the units to view these findings as “a strong starting point for meaningful improvements at the program level.” Dr. Thuyen echoed this perspective, emphasizing that the evaluation marks “the beginning of a journey to elevate these programs to greater heights and to nurture even more talented graduates.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen presented a token of appreciation to UPD Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Maria Vanessa P. Lusung-Oyzon during the closing session.

The successful completion of this undertaking affirms UP Diliman’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and regional collaboration. Insights from the site visit will guide the continuous enhancement of its programs and ensure that UPD remains responsive to stakeholder needs while strengthening its role in producing globally competitive graduates.
