UPD Quality Assurance Office meets with VPAA-QA and UPD units for AUN-QA 2022 post-assessment, discusses QA direction

The UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office (QAO) held a post-assessment meeting last November 3, 2022 at the Lopez Room of the University Hotel to take stock of the University’s experiences during the recent assessment of the BS Statistics program by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). This meeting also served as an official event to acknowledge the units and offices that participated in the assessment.
Officials from the UP System and UP Diliman, heads and staff of units managing shared facilities, as well as faculty members and officials of the School of Statistics, were in attendance.
QAO Director Aura C. Matias congratulated the School of Statistics for undergoing AUN-QA assessment this year. In her opening remarks, Director Matias emphasized the importance of quality assurance in the continuous improvement of the academic programs of the University. Through external quality assessment, Director Matias is hopeful that degree programs will be at par with other universities not just in the Philippines but also abroad.
The Self-Assessment Report (SAR) team from the School of Statistics led by former Dean Joseph Ryan P. Lansangan, PhD expressed his gratitude for the support of the UPD QAO as well as the other units in the university. He also reported that the AUN-QA is expected to send the results of the evaluation of the BS Statistics program by the end of the year.
In her closing remarks, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Alyssa M. Peleo-Alampay expressed her anticipation of the positive results of the AUN-QA assessment of the BS Statistics program. AVP Peleo-Alampay also announced the schedule of the AUN-QA assessment for UP Diliman which will happen on November 21-23, 2023, and expressed her hopes that all units in the University will support the upcoming and future program assessment activities.
Three (3) undergraduate programs and one (1) Master’s program from UP Diliman have already confirmed their participation in the AUN-QA program assessment next year. These programs are the Bachelor of Science in Tourism (Asian Institute of Tourism), Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (College of Home Economics – Department of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management), Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (College of Social Sciences and Philosophy – Department of Political Science), and Master of Science in Food Science (College of Home Economics – Department of Food Science and Nutrition).
The External Quality Assurance (EQA) team, composed of Ms. Iris E. Abiul, Mr. Charles Jason C. Ramos, and Mr. Erick Prynze I. Sazon, has been in contact with these programs over the last year with respect to their AUN-QA assessment preparations.
