UPD QAO Sharpens PUP’s Readiness for AUN-QA Programme Assessment

SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals

As a follow-up to the benchmarking activity last year by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) with UP Diliman (UPD) academic units, another collaboration was held between the UPD Quality Assurance Office (UPD QAO) and the PUP Quality Assurance Center (PUP QAC), this time through a webinar on the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Programme-level Assessment Requirements, focusing on Criteria 3 to 8 last October 27, 2025.

Around 120 participants from the PUP were welcomed by QAC Director Prof. Sanjay Claudio as he delivered the Opening Remarks. Following the welcome address, Assistant Director for Institutional and International Quality Assurance, Prof. Rebecca Palma, introduced the guest speaker, UPD QAO Director Prof. Aura Matias.

Prof. Matias served as the key resource speaker, providing insights and citing examples on the different criteria of the assessment framework,  assisted by the Internal Quality Assurance Unit team lead, Kelvin Mendoza, and Senior Office Associate for Internal QA, Leandro Sampang.

Lecture discussions on the criteria requirements led by Director Matias were supplemented by interactive quizzes and gamified activities led by both offices to ensure that participants maximize the learning experience.

Practical tips and advice on the preliminary steps before actual AUN-QA assessment preparations were also shared by Director Matias as PUP gears up for its planned program assessments in 2027. The webinar concludes with a group photo opportunity, announcement of winners from the different activities, and the singing of the PUP Hymn.

The office has been very active in supporting other UP constituent units on their QA initiatives, with past events like INSPIRE-UP Manila, ASPIRE-UP Baguio, and ISO 21001 Orientation of UP Baguio, among others. This collaboration with PUP marks the first time that the UPD QAO shared its knowledge on international QA assessments with another university, supporting the vision of the UP System to exemplify honor and excellence by serving the nation through knowledge sharing.
