The UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office (UPD QAO) held the inaugural QAhusayan Fair from September 7 to 11, 2026, officially marking September as the University’s Quality Assurance (QA) Month. Themed “Empowering Excellence through a Culture of Quality,” the five-day Fair brought together academic and administrative units to showcase initiatives, projects, and practices that demonstrate how quality is embedded in the University’s work.
Previously observed annually as the QA Month, the initiative takes on a new format this year with the introduction of the QAhusayan Fair, which will now be held every two years. QA Month activities will continue to be held in the intervening year, allowing the University community to sustain its engagement with quality assurance initiatives between each installment of the Fair. The QAhusayan Fair showcases quality improvement projects of faculty members, and staff.
UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II, School of Urban and Regional Planning Dean Dina C. Magnaye, and UPD QAO Director Evangeline C. Amor posed for a photo with the attendees of the QAhusayan Fair opening ceremony at Pilar Herrera Hall, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
The QAhusayan Fair was opened with a brief ceremony held on September 7, 2026 at the Pilar Herrera Hall, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), with members of the UP Diliman community in attendance, including UP Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II, CSSP Dean Ruth R. Lusterio-Rico, School of Urban and Regional Planning (SURP) Dean Dina R. Magnaye, and UPD QAO Director Evangeline C. Amor.
In his opening message, Chancellor Vistan situated the Fair within the University’s broader pursuit of continuous improvement. As he put it, “The work of improving the University will continue—in our classrooms and laboratories, in our offices and service units, in our meetings and planning sessions, and in the many decisions we make each day.” He further observed that such efforts “will not always be visible, and it will not always have a name,” underscoring how quality can be found in both institutional initiatives and everyday work.
UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II delivered his message at the QAhusayan Fair opening ceremony.

In the lead-up to the fair, the UPD QAO issued a call for applications for poster presentations, inviting academic and administrative units to share completed projects, ongoing programs, and other initiatives that demonstrate how quality is embedded in their respective work.
A total of 20 posters were selected for the presentation, most of which came from administrative units. Nine (9) posters were selected from the academic units. Ten (10) presenters are Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS), and there were three (3) presentations led by faculty members and another three (3) from the administrative staff. Four (4) presentations were made by Individual Contract of Service (ICS) personnel.
Poster presenters interacted with members of the UP Diliman Community during the four-day QAhusayan Fair exhibit at the Palma Hall Lobby, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
The posters were featured in a five-day exhibit at the Palma Hall Lobby of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy from September 7 to 11, 2026 where it is accessible to students, staff, and visitors. The presenters were assigned time blocks in the morning and afternoon of each day to give them opportunities to elaborate on their posters, discuss the processes behind their initiatives, and inspire visitors and other members of the UP Diliman community. Visitors were issued poster trail cards that they can use to claim prizes. The UPD QAO also put up a taho station on September 8, 2026 as a refreshment for the visitors and poster presenters.
Various UP Diliman stakeholders, including academic staff, administrative staff, and students, visited the QAhusayan Fair exhibit and engaged in the activities.
The presentations offered a glimpse into the breadth of quality-related work taking place across UP Diliman—from digital transformation and process improvement, research and academic support, student and community engagement, library and information services, infrastructure and campus operations, to initiatives promoting inclusion, sustainability, and well-being.
The exhibit also made visible the different ways quality can be pursued across units, shaped by their respective mandates and contexts but grounded in a shared commitment to improving processes, services, systems, programs, and experiences within the University.
The fair faced challenges brought about by inclement weather, including class suspensions and the implementation of flexible work arrangements that affected participation throughout the week. Despite these disruptions, participating units, presenters, and organizers adapted to the changing circumstances and sustained the scheduled activities.
