The UP Diliman College of Engineering, in partnership with UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office, successfully conducted the week-long CoE Self-Assessment Report (SAR) Writing Workshop on August 10-14, 2026, targeting the continuous quality improvement of their graduate degree programs.
Opening the five-day program, Prof. Maria Antonia N. Tanchuling, Dean of the College of Engineering, expressed her support for the participating faculty members and staff, highlighting the importance of strengthening program and institutional capabilities in drafting their SAR.
The workshop kicked off virtually on August 10 with a webinar session on Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) Principles led by Prof. Marion Lux Y. Castro, Director of the UPLB Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL).

Prof. Emer. Villaseñor and Prof. Festin served as resource persons to the CoE SAR Writing Workshop.
The workshop transitioned to on-campus sessions for Day 2 at UP Diliman, where Prof. Emer. Irene M. Villaseñor delivered a lecture on the AUN-QA Framework criteria for programme, covering criterion 1.0 Expected Learning Outcomes, criterion 2.0 Programme Structure and Content, criterion 3.0 Teaching and Learning Approach, and criterion 4.0 Student Assessment. To allow participating teams dedicated time to populate their draft documentation, Day 3 was designated as an asynchronous work session for the SAR Teams to complete the SAR Preparation Template. The workshop resumed in person for Days 4 and 5, with Prof. Susan P. Festin guiding participants through AUN-QA Framework criteria for resources: criterion 5.0 Academic Staff, criterion 6.0 Student Support Services, and criterion 7.0 Facilities and Infrastructure; and for results, discussing criterion 8.0 Outputs and Outcomes.
The training workshop was organized through the collaborative efforts of the College of Engineering, led by Dean Prof. Maria Antonia N. Tanchuling and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Prof. Leslie Joy L. Diaz, alongside the UPD QAO, headed by Director Prof. Evangeline C. Amor and the Internal Quality Assurance unit. Through this joint initiative, graduate program writing teams received direct coaching, evidence-mapping strategies, and actionable guidance as they prepare their respective SARs for upcoming quality reviews.

The UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office held an onboarding session for project proponents of approved Academic Program Improvement (API) Fund 2026 programs on February 2 at Seminar Room C, National Engineering Center. The session covered key budgeting, accounting, and procurement guidelines for implementing API-funded projects.

As global university rankings continue to shape how higher education institutions are perceived, evaluated, and engaged worldwide, the University of the Philippines Diliman convened academic and administrative units for the QS and THE University Rankings Symposium on December 5, 2025, at the UP National Engineering Center Audio-Visual Room (AVR).

The Bachelor of Science programs in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Geodetic Engineering successfully completed the 57th Philippine Technological Council-Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET) Accreditation Visit on November 18-20, 2025, at the University of the Philippines Diliman.

The UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office culminates its Internal Quality Assurance activities with its Quarter 4 QA Clinic, bringing together 42 participants across 29 degree-granting units (DGUs). Held on November 17, 2025 at the UP Diliman Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (EEEI), the QA Clinic was attended by academic unit heads, faculty members, research and administrative staff, and QA officers across the academic clusters.

Dr. Maria Aura Teodora C. Matias, Director of the UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office, was invited by the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA) of the Central Mindanao University to orient specific stakeholder groups about the conduct of assessment site visits, specifically in the format of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).

In order to train SAR Writing Teams for the graduate program offerings of UP and align with the UP System target to further promote SAR submission, the Paghahanda: 2025 UPD QAO Self-Assessment Report (SAR) Preparation Workshops brought together 79 participants across 18 degree granting units in UP Diliman.
